Summer Fair 2016

Clear blue skies and glorious sunshine heralded the perfect day for the Avanti Summer Fair and the culmination of weeks of hard work. Around 700 people joined Friends of Avanti House at the Pinner site to have fun and we raised a grand total of £7,118.66 for our school.

Colourful Indian outfits, handcrafted jewelery and animal balloons were just a few of the items for sale on the day, and face painting, mehndi and sand crafting were amongst the many activities on offer. Our main sponsors, Stones Residential, Hira Construction and Golden Tours made a significant contribution to the success of the day, and Stones’ frisbees and bubble wands were a great hit. Our cricket simulation game, Batfast was immensely popular, as were the Mega Slide and Bungee Run. These definitely brought out the competitive spirit of participants as they worked up a sweat, and then cooled off with some delicious ice-creams and slushies.
Parents and children alike enjoyed freshly cooked pizzas, chips, tasty samosas, barbequed corn and mogo while being entertained by our lively DJ.  Huge thanks to the food team who worked relentless through the scorching heat.

FOAH also hosted a number of classic fair games such as Tin Can Alley. One of the highlights of the day was our ‘Splat-a- Hero’ board, which had excited students lining up to soak Mr Halliday and other sporting teachers; indeed they did Avanti Primary proud, manning three stalls including the old favourite, the Tombola, which boasted exceptional prizes this year. Primary students also presented a dance routine, kindly arranged by Ms Gill.

The day was rounded off with a fun photo opportunity for children who were able to sit in a fire engine and a police car, and take home a small memento.

It truly was an enjoyable day. THANK YOU to all the parents and children for coming to this event; it definitely wouldn’t have been a success without you.
